This is an incredibly special way to create unity and share the death, dying and grieving experience amongst those who are important to you. This workshop is a collaborative gathering with Emma Beattie (Before and After Life) who is a death educator.
Emma weaves the mysteries, the legalities and mortal reflections into the weekend while Zimmi guides the coffin weaving.
The first 2 days is spent with up to 6 of your nearest and dearest, going into the bush to collect the materials (if you chose to run this on the north coast). If we are coming to you, we will bring the materials with us.
Once the material is on hand we come together as a group of 16 – 22 people The day is divided into 2 sessions…..morning and afternoon. Half the group will start the weaving and the other half talking, sharing and reflecting on life and death. In the afternoon, the groups swap over. This is repeated on the 2nd day.
By the end of the weekend the coffin will be completed and the group will have bonded in ways that life does not normally have time, space or reason for.
